Well, maybe not a “warrior”, but I did manage to work my way through a quilt top and back for a friend’s new daughter. And “weekend quilter” just didn’t have the right alliteration.

Hey, all! I finally found both the time and energy to process some photos from my new camera. I went on a little outing last weekend, looking for interesting places and things to photograph. I remembered that there are several wooded areas near my home where the woods and a stream are literally steps away from the edge of the road. The real challenge was finding a place to pull over, so I could get some nature shots.
Sadness this morning, as I finally discovered instructions to make the very quilt block I thought I had “invented”. But never fear! I have a plan cooking in the back of my brain to turn this frown upside down…
OMG! You guys! I just came up with a crazy cool idea for a fun quilt block! It should be super easy to do, too! Once I get my fabric and sewing machines back out of storage and set up, that is…
Here’s a hint: it’s based on a 9-patch block. Easy, right? (No, it’s not the pictured block. It’s gonna be way cooler than that!)
And when it’s done, I’ll post a photo and a tutorial for ya.
While visiting Los Angeles for our 2nd oldest daughter’s “Geektastic Nuptial Extravaganza” wedding celebration, I took a bunch of photos of random objects and such, which I have added here for your viewing pleasure. Click on a thumbnail to view one image, or click through to see them all.
[edit: Forgot to mention, I took all of these with my phone, not with my usual point-and-shoot camera. So, they’re not all the sharpest images, but it was what I had at the time. Plus, it was easier to upload some of these for a game of “Where’s Lisa” on G+ with a few of my friends.]
The wonderful thing about having a little digital camera is that I can take it (almost) anywhere, and I can shoot lots of pictures. At least until the battery dies, or the card fills up. Whichever comes first.

Sorry I’ve not posted for a while. I’ve been so busy the past two weeks, trying to get ready for, then traveling to (and from) our 2nd oldest daughter’s wedding celebration in Los Angeles. Why was it called the “Geektastic Nuptial Extravaganza”? Read on to find out…
