Just when you think, “Yep, these are my only choices”, along comes Inspiration to bash you in the head with her little wand, and prove that, indeed, there are more choices, more options. Things you’d never thought of before, explode, fully grown, from your head, like the birth of Minerva/Athena.
Take, for instance, my current project to design my creative space. I had come up with 2 viable candidates for a decent space plan that would allow me the flexibility I want, with the closed storage I need for the available space. I figured that these were my best options for the available space and furniture. Yet here, dear readers, is another studio layout option (I’m sure there are several more floating around somewhere in the ether):
This layout even allows for another shelf, although it would have to be a small one. I’m also considering putting the two long shelves back-to-back to enable wider containers (the shelves are only 12 inches deep), which would leave room for another shelving unit or two.
Well, it’s still a WIP (work-in-progress), so I’ll have to get some photos of the process and the finished space. Right now it’s just a jumble of stuff, including boxes, bikes, shelves and a variety of odds and ends. The space will need some serious cleaning and prep work before it’s ready for the eventual floor plan. So far, it’s name is “DreamSpace”. If it speaks to me more, that may change.
