Day 175: Still Working On the Quilt…

Tonight I managed to put the quilt sandwich together, and now it’s ready to do the actual quilting.

Here’s part of it after I pin-basted the top, batting and back together. I had to use my dining room table, and even it wasn’t big enough.

If I were going to make this pattern again, I’d do a few things differently. I’d either make it entirely symmetrical by using the same fabrics in alternating blocks, or I’d make it entirely random and scrappy by making sure no 2 blocks were alike.

I want to be a scrappy rebel, but my psyche won’t let me. She wants things to have some sort of order or a pattern, preferably symmetrical, if possible. Oh, well…  I still think it’s turning out nicely. Some of the seams even match up! Now I’ll have to try to quilt the blessed thing, and I have just about 1 week to get it done. He has already seen it, but I don’t think he knows it’s for him yet. But at least the comments he makes are positive.

Oh, and I managed to get this with my phone last night:

It looks a lot better on my phone screen than it does blown up. But I still like the way the clouds lit up, and the partial silhouette of the trees in the bottom third or so. Kinda abstract, maybe?

Well, it’s after 10:00 p.m, so I’d better go get ready for bed. Time flies, eh?

NOW, IF YOU WISH TO PRODUCE SOMETHING REALLY ESOTERIC, AND IT IS POSSIBLE:>) TRY DEVELOPING A PATTERN DEMONSTRATING THE 5TH DIMENSION. I THINK I CAN SHOW YOU HOW. IT WILL LOOK REALLY SPECTACULAR, ESPECIALLY WITH A VARIETY OF KALEIDOSCOPIC COLORS. I HAVE IT ON MY KINDLE!!!!
    PAPPIE!
