So today I managed to get all 28 strip sets sewn and pressed. Want to see? Of course you do…
This is the second set of strip sets, which I finished today. I was pressing all the seams, when I realized that two of the strip sets had the bright green strip sewn in backwards! So, I spent nearly an hour ripping out the seams (notice that it is surrounded by two other strips), then sewing them back in correctly. There was one other strip that I managed to sew to the wrong side of the strip set, so I had to rip that seam out, too. But I managed to finish sewing and pressing all 28 strip sets shortly after 10 PM tonight. Here’s what they look like now:
The book recommends that I starch the strips prior to cutting the triangles. I don’t have any starch here. And if I did, I wouldn’t know how to use it. Believe it or not, I don’t think I’ve ever used starch. Is spray starch the right stuff? Do I need to protect my ironing board cover when I use it? I guess it just washes out of the pieced quilt once I’ve completed it. Right?
Well, it’s after 11 PM now, and I have to go to work in the morning. Guess I’d better head to bed for now. My questions will wait for another day…
