Studio Idea Board

My, my, my! Ask for a little inspiration, and some fun and funky ideas, do a little Googling, and stand back and watch the magic happen!

I went looking for some ideas to funkify some old dressers and a cupboard for my soon-to-be studio space, and I found many, many ideas to play with! Some are easy to accomplish, while others are just lovely to look at, but well beyond my current skills.

And then…. I found the lighting! Oh, the possibilities! Fun, funky, whimsical lighting ideas: sparkle balls, fractal chandeliers, straw lamps, wire lamps, pendants, desk lamps, fairy lights…. The unfortunate thing is that very few of these will provide task lighting for what I will need. But any of them will add whimsy to the space, which will, in turn, help to inspire my work and bring a smile to my face and joy to my spirit.

In fact, I have created a Pinterest account, just so I can keep track of all the idea images, rather than print them out and glue them to an actual “idea board”. You know, save the environment, save a tree, and all that. But then, I won’t be able to just sit and stare at my idea board for hours, without logging in and scrolling up and down. ::sigh:: The sacrifices we creatives make in the name of the environment…. ::tsk::

And here’s how you can find my Pinterest stuff: http://pinterest.com/egmayfield/

In the meantime, I’m actively seeking inspiration, since I can’t do anything about the space or furniture at the moment. Once the kids are out of school for the summer, and Spousal Unit has a few days off, he promised me he’d get the kids to help him move stuff around and get my studio space set up. Of course, I’ll need a few days of beautiful weather so I can empty, clean, sand, paint and decorate the furniture pieces that will store my goodies. Guess I’ll have to take a day or two off from work on a couple of really nice days, once the ball gets rolling in the right direction. Which will give me time to decide on a plan for decorating the pieces. Oh, the dilemma of which direction to take them! Oh, the agony of having to wait! I’m terribly impatient, so this is just killing me…. ::sigh::
